You are a passenger (or a crew member) on the boat. There are cabins where you can sleep, a toilet and a shower you can use, a kitchen with gas oven, fridge and all the necessary kitchen appliances, and a saloon and cockpit where you can sit and eat or have a party. You can travel along the coast and islands - under the sails or on the engine, stay overnight in marinas or on the anchor, you can swim, fish, sail and do everything that makes a perfect summer holiday.

If you wish to enjoy a carefree holiday, you will need a boat and a skipper who will care about your safety and the safety of the boat during the trip. We will find the right skipper for you! Of course, if you prefer to sail yourself you will need a license and sailing experience. So, you can either rent a boat with or without a skipper - we provide both skippered and bareboat charter.
Each sailing area has high and low seasons. In Europe high season is in summer, in the Caribbean, it’s in winter, in some Asian regions high season lasts the whole year. Just make sure to check the weather conditions in the area where you want to sail.
During the low season, a number of boats are available for departure any day of the week. However, during the high season, it is unlikely that a boat manager will agree to a charter that does not fall within the Saturday to Saturday period. All other arrangements depend on your budget.
The standard and the most cost-effective charter lasts from Saturday to Saturday, and that is what we recommend to our customers.
Prices vary depending on the date you choose and are higher as you get closer to the peak of high season. You can rent a boat for as long as you want, a week, two weeks or more, and sailing charters usually begin and end on Saturdays.
The minimum standard is either RYA Day Skipper, International Certificate of Competence or another nationally recognised competency qualification. Each country has its own rules, so it depends on the sailing area that you chose for your sailing holiday. We always check with the boat owner before booking on the type of license needed, and we will give you this information.
If you do not have these qualifications or have a qualification that does not meet the requirements, you can take a skippered charter and have one of the professionally qualified skippers on board to take care of all the hard stuff.
To choose the right charter yacht you should consider your group size and level of comfort. Your budget is also an important factor.
If you are sailing as a couple, you will need at least two cabins: one for you and one for the skipper if you need a crewed charter. So, remember to include an extra passenger in your search. For groups up to 13 people, you will need a boat with three to six cabins. For larger groups, we suggest a gulet or more than one boat. Each boat is registered for the maximum number of people on board.
Just like for a hired car, you pay only for the fuel you use. Fuel cost depends on how much motoring you do, the size of the yacht and weather conditions. Generally, your yacht will have a full tank, which simply needs to be filled up at the end of your charter.
Each boat is obligatory insured. But as a rule, insurance has a franchise and does not cover damages to small parts or equipment. To cover it, boat owner usually asks for a security deposit, which will be charged (cash or credit card) in the marina before you leave on your sailing trip and will be returned upon arrival (if there is no damage or missing parts). Also, you can insure this deposit with some companies and apply for its return (in case of an accident) later from your insurance company.
Yes, skipper services are paid separately (except for boats that are obligatory skippered and the service is included in the price). You can pay your skipper directly in the marina or ask us to add this service to the invoice for your boat charter. Price of the service depends on the boat size, type, sailing area and the duration of your trip. Basic rate is 150 € per day - but the price is discussed separately for each trip.
Tips are an important part of a skipper’s income - and if you are happy with your skipper’s service award him with a tip afterwards. Usually, it’s 10-20% of the price of his service, although some customers can give 30-50% or more - there is no limit. Of course, if you are not happy with the service you can choose not to give a tip.
As a rule - you have to pay for skipper's meals whether you eat in restaurants or on board. It is customary for all working crew to have their meals provided by a client. If you want some privacy and don’t want to take the skipper to the restaurant with you, you should provide him/her with food or extra money for a decent meal.
On a bareboat charter, it’s best to just provision for an extra person, while on a crewed yacht this cost is included in the charter fee and the crew will take care of themselves.
During the trip, it's rather hard - especially in the high season - to find another available skipper. But, of course, if you feel that you must change your skipper you should inform the boat owner, fleet operator or agent who will deal with the situation.
If you are not an experienced sailor, the key information you should provide is the number of people on board, where and when you plan to start your vacation, whether you need a skipper or a hostess and the budget you plan to invest in your sailing holiday.
On the other hand, if you are an experienced sailor your message should include the preferred boat type and, if possible, the brand you are searching for. The more information you provide, the more likely our initial proposals will include boats that best match your preferences.
The availability and the final price of the boat will be sent to you on request. Standard prices include rental of the boat with all the equipment and dinghy (tender) for sailboats and catamarans, as well as the first and last night in the yacht’s home marina. Also included are instructions on departure, guides and navigation charts and technical assistance from the base, 7 days a week during your cruise.
Not included in the charter/rental rates: fuel, final cleaning of the boat, food, transport and transfer costs to/from the base, port taxes/fees, mooring costs, tourist taxes. Depending on the base and the boat, certain mandatory options must be added to the charter/rental rate. Mostly it is the final cleaning of the boat and purchasing supplies (gas, stack, tea towels...)
You can also choose other options for a more comfortable cruise: paddle, an outboard engine for the dinghy (some companies include this), bedding, towels, full board, skipper, barbecue... We will provide you with the complete list of options available for your chosen boat.
To understand the total cost of your cruise add the rental rate, options (mandatory or not) and your fuel costs, port costs and food. Skipper, hostess, chef or any other crew service are not included and have to be paid separately. Security deposit, which will be returned after your trip if there is no damage to the boat and equipment, is also not included in the price.
We suggest bank transfer as the most cost-effective method of payment. For credit card payments we have to charge you extra on top of the offered charter price.
For confirmation, we will require a deposit, which is 50% of the charter fee. A 100% payment is required for all reservations made no longer than one month before departure. The balance must be paid no later than one month before boarding.
Yes, all yachts and crew on board are fully insured. Charter boat is insured under marine insurance policies against loss, damage and third party indemnity. When you use the booked yacht, you are fully responsible for it and all people on board. In the event of loss or damage to the yacht, your liability is limited to the amount of your security deposit unless the damage is caused by your negligence.
The damage waiver (additional insurance of the security deposit that covers all damages) can be offered in most cases. Terms and conditions of the damage waiver depend on the insurance company that insures the boat. So, damage waiver insurance is either available directly with the boat owner, or through a 3rd party insurance company.
But even if you have a waiver, the fleet operator can still ask for a security deposit. In that case, you can use your waiver afterwards to cover your lost deposit (in case of an accident). The fleet operator must give you a separate invoice and everything necessary for insurance company documents for all repairs or replacement made after the accident.
If you wish to make a cancellation, you should contact your agent as soon as possible. For a bareboat or crewed charter, your payment is usually retained by the boat owner.
If you want to cancel the trip less than one month before the date, as a rule, the owner can't find a replacement and will not return your payment. However, if the boat is rented during the same period by another client then your payment may be partly refunded, after deduction of a cancellation fee.
Also, you should note that the Charter Company may have further terms and conditions that will apply to the charter - we will provide you with full information if this is the case. Some boat owners can give a partial return if the cancellation is made 100 - 120 days before the date, or they can propose alternative dates for your sailing trip.
In any case, inform us about the cancellation as soon as possible and we will try to help you find the solution for your situation. We recommend that you sign up for cancellation insurance with your personal insurance provider.
The official time for your yacht to be ready and available to board is 17:00. The exact time may depend on the yacht and the destination, but usually, it is 17:00 hours on the first day of your charter.
Using your arrival information on the crew list, we’ll ask the charter company to have the yacht ready earlier, but please understand that this cannot be guaranteed as a lot of time time is required to prepare the entire fleet. Some charter companies now offer early boarding at extra charge (available on request).
Generally, the disembark time is 8:00 on the last day of your charter, meaning you come back to the marina the evening before your last morning. So at the end of the charter, you are required to get back to the marina the night before you disembark, where you will be officially checked-out. You will then be able to explore the local area, relax on the boat overnight, and leave before 08:00 the next day.
For additional information, please discuss this issue directly with the base manager and your skipper (if you hired one).
Check-in of the boat is performed by the skipper +1 crew member and someone from the base personnel. They inspect the boat from keel to mast and check to ensure that all equipment is in place and functioning properly.
At check-in, you will also receive instructions on important fuses and operation of the specific model you chartered and will be given instructions about the use of the toilet, septic tank and gas. If you have any questions, please ask the base manager. At check-out, you will go through the boat again, and if any damage occurred or you lost any equipment, you will pay for it from your security deposit.
While on the charter you have phone access to support whenever you need it. Your documentation will include the phone number of the base manager, and also the emergency service number. In the unlikely event of a problem that cannot be fixed by phone, an engineer will be sent out to you to help out.
Please take check-in time to ask all questions about the function of the vessel - the more you know, the easier and more comfortable your holiday will be. Also, this is the best time to find any inventory that has been overlooked or lost by the previous client. This is a very important process - so, please, be involved.
Plan and do your grocery shopping before your boarding. Boats are equipped with a fully functioning kitchen. If you have a crew with you, don’t forget to include them as you should provide meals for your skipper and hostess. If you have a host/hostess on board he/she will do the planning and shopping in agreement with you.
Make sure you have enough water on board. Also, remember to bring your booking confirmation and original skipper and VHF license.
The boat is equipped with life jackets and dinghy. All charter yachts are chartered as 'bare boats', meaning that the boat is bare when you collect it. You therefore usually need to buy everything for yourself and your company, including toilet paper, soap, salt, pepper, cleaning products and food and drink.
In most cases, we can send out a provision list for you to select items to be purchased and stored on your yacht before you arrive (for an additional fee which will be paid in the marina to the fleet operator).
As you will be travelling abroad please make sure that you have the necessary documents for the country you are visiting, a valid passport and visa if it's required. For a bareboat charter, you also need to take the original sailing licence and VHF certificate.
Don’t forget soft-sided luggage, swimwear, beach towels, fleece and waterproof jacket!
The range differs from area to area and facility to facility. There are generally no charges for dropping anchor and coming ashore in your dinghy. If you moor in a harbour, town quay, mooring buoy or even in some anchorages you may need to pay a fee. The price can vary depending on the location and size of your yacht.
Crew list is a very important document - when you are sailing, only people listed on the crew list are allowed to be aboard the boat. Police and port authorities can check your crew list.
Contact the base or booking manager in the marina immediately after your arrival. They will ask you for documents of all passengers, fill the crew list and register it with the port authority or police. Our recommendation is to send the scan of documents or required data of all people who will be on board in advance by e-mail, and the crew list will be prepared before your arrival. This will save you valuable time once you arrive at the marina.
